This forum requires Javascript to be enabled for posting content
Every once in a while I get a popup message that "javascript is unresponsive..." or something similar. Selections are either CONTINUE or STOP. Selecting CONTINUE seems to lock up the application (usually AOL) but STOP allows further action. (It could actually be the reverse situation but forget to make note when it happens!)
What does Java (script) do and is it necessary to have installed on systems running Win7 Home and/or Pro?
Thanks in advance.
Hi WB - Javscript is part of your browser and it allows for certain interactions with whatever site you happen to be visiting - such as submitting information and working with interactive content.
You can't really get rid of it but it is possible to disable it. Some people use a browser add-on called NoScript to disable Javascript but this can lead to problems with webpage rendering or not being able to utilize sites properly, especially for less experienced users who are unsure of what they are doing.
Javascript can also be disabled within a browser's own settings, but again, this can cause issues - the general consensus is that disabling Javascript causes far more annoyance than benefit.
That said, it's unusual for Javascript to throw up error messages. What browser are you using?
