Install win7 64 bit

I have been trying to install Win7 64 bit Pro with no success. Get 82% complete then I receive the error message 0x80070570. Called Microsoft they said it was a Motherboard problem. Called Gigabyte and they said it is a Microsoft problem.

BTW, I can install the 32 bit Win7.

Has anyone got any idea as to what I can do.

Hey David - That's what we call "getting the run around". I hate it when two companies refuse to take responsibility and just keep passing the buck back and forth.

These error codes are always pretty generic, which means they can help but not a lot. Please provide the following information:

Is this a fresh install to an empty hard drive or are you trying to install over the top of an existing operating system?

What type of media are you installing from... DVD? Is it the same type of media for both 32 and 64 bit editions?

What is the motherboard model number and CPU (processor) brand and model number?

Hi Mate:
Yes, it is a fresh install to an empty hard drive. It is a DVD. One for 32 bit and one for 64 bit.
The motherboard model number is GA-Z77-D3H. The CPU is Intel I7-3770.

Okay, thanks David. From what you have told me - 32-bit will install okay but 64-bit won't - I would say it's most likely the 64-bit DVD is slightly damaged in some way.

Give the DVD a good clean, see if you can see any scratches. Is it an original DVD or did you download and burn an ISO to blank DVD yourself?

What burning software are you using? And most importantly; what brand DVDs and which format (as in DVD+R or DVD-R)?

Did you use the exact same brand and format for burning the 32-bit version?

May be a corrupted download, have you tried downloading the 64-bit ISO again?

Wrong. They are original DVD's from Microsoft.

You have to appreciate mate, there are so many reasons why this may be happening and we need as much information as possible. You would save a lot of back and forth if you supplied all relevant information in the first place, instead of us having to extract details piecemeal.

There are lots of reports across forums of this error code appearing during installation while expanding files (at approx 30% progress) but nothing relating to when the installation is at 80%. And so many different suggestions but nothing in the way of a definite solution.

First up, I suggest you try the following: Remove any connected USB devices - try the installation again. If that doesn't work; disconnect all unnecessary hardware from the system; video cards and expansion cards. Also, remove all but one stick of RAM... try again.
