Hey Ema - Adding subtitles permanently to movies is a rather complex operation which requires utilizing 3rd party software, most of which is shareware. I suggest you perform a search using the term "How to add subtitles to downloaded movie", or something similar. Have a look through the results and decide if you are really prepared to go down that track or not.

Here are a couple to start you off:
http://www.online-tech-tips.com/compute ... o-a-video/
http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/how-to-add ... on-series/
(scroll down to "Subtitle Burning (AVI)")

Cheers....Jim

Jim
I had made a few dvds with the subtitles when I had xp now I have windows 7. One was named THe Black Book a Danish movie. I dont think it was to hard to do. Anyway I looked at what you sent. I have anyconverter and VLC and dvd shrink and dvd flick. If you please could give me baby steps and tell me what I need I would be very happy to try it. It also said virutaldub which I beleve is free but I cant figure out anything about that.
Anyway if its possible I really would do it. But I need easy directions if thats possible
Thanks ema

Ema - VirtualDub is not an easy program to figure out and the entire process of adding subtitles to a DVD movie is quite complicated. The second link I gave you includes an in depth guide, I can't really explain it in any simpler terms than that guide.

Try following that guide, step by step, and see how you go. If you search around, there are plenty of other guides too utilizing different sets of software. But, as I said, the simpler solutions generally involve shareware (= $$$$).

Cheers mate.....Jim

I am a bit confused.....Do you want to make an actual DVD or a video file with subtitles that you can play on your computer or an up to date BR/DVD player that supports AVI, Divx, Mp4 and MKV video?

I have a bunch of Indian movies on my pc that I am addicting to watching with subtitles that are taking up too much space.
I would like to make dvds from them with subtitles included that I can play on my dvd player or the pc.
Thanks Be well

Well Ema, if the subtitles are hard coded into the original movie file then you can just burn to DVD using any authoring software which supports the original file format:

[url=http://www.koyotesoft.com/indexEn.html:1e75xkqf]Koyote Video to DVD[/url:1e75xkqf]------>(click on "Free Videos to DVD V4.0" in the navigation panel on the left hand side of the screen)

Hiiiiiiiiii JIm
I went back and tried again. THe page bounced again but then I looked all over the page and found the download. THe first 10 times I just thought if I clicked it would download. Anyway I went real slow and I hope I did everything right there were 5 steps. I took the step to put it on a disk and didnt put it on an iso. yes. So now it seems to be making the dvd. I used a dvdrw because I am tired of messing everything up .... So far 18 min and 14 percent finished on file conversion. After the name of the move. the extention is mkv.
DO I need the dvd flick also. Did I do it right.
I am so happy I hope I get the movie with subtitles.
Thanks againnnnnnnnnn Ema

No, they both do the same sort of job so, either one or the other.

No idea mate. Guess we'll find that out when you play the DVD.

Neither do I Ema...LOL

Sounds as though the burning part finished and then it was looking to do something else...play the DVD through your media player perhaps?

Try removing the DVD from the tray and then putting it back in again. Do you get the same message, something else, or nothing?
