Hi all:

Here are some of the freeware apps that I have found are working with Windows 7 RC1.

Avira AntiVir - http://www.avira.com/en/download
AusLogics Disk Defrag - http://www.auslogics.com/en/so.....g/download
FoxIt PDF reader - http://www.foxitsoftware.com/downloads/
IrfanView - http://www.irfanview.com/main_.....d_engl.htm
PCWizard - en.softonic.com/s/pc-wizard-2009 -
xplorer2 Lite - http://www.zabkat.com/x2lite.htm

So far I have found no major problems with this new RC1. I have to say I like it, there some little differences from the Beta 1 release, but nothing to get excited over. It seems to stable and fast. I loaded it using a clean install, took 30 minutes or so, not long at all.

I found that the free Comodo firewall doesn't play well however.

Jim, let us know what you think of my list!!

Nightowl..

Have you found any more freewares that run with RC 1?

I haven't had any real time to play with it. FF3, Irfanview, Thunderbird, and Online Armor firewall are in daily use on my machines. I use ESET for A/V, so I don't expect problems there. Most of my graphic work is done with PS7, PSP X, and Painter 9.5. I'm so comfortable with PS7, I hope it's compatible. I upgraded to CS3 a while back, but only use it in certain situations. Still, it'd be nice to play around some freeware substitutes on Win 7.

Best,
-Ron

Hi Ron:

The one thing I'm not sure of is ESET. I went to their site and it said they are in beta for Win7, so they don't support it yet. I'm sure that at some point they will come out of beta so it is compatible with Win7. I read that Win7 goes to retail in October 2009, so I would think it should ready by then if not before. I really can't say about PS7. Their web site may offer some incite as to their compatibly with Win7.

So, actually, I have been no help what so ever

which, really, is the best kind of help when dealing with Microsoft.
