I recently read in an article on this site that the writer was going to stick to using AOMEI and imaging s/w for his backup needs. I would like to hear about his experience with Aomei. Mine is a bit less than ecstatically happy. I installed v2.0.2 and ran a System Backup back-up twice, taking approx 45mins. each run, and it failed to verify correctly each time. Then ran a Sector by Sector and it took over 2.25 hours and still failed!
Would anyone care to comment? please.
I re-discovered the article - evaluating Toolwiz Time Machine by Jim Hillier. So I hope Jim can help me with AOMEI, his back-up preference.
I have exchanged 4 messages with AOMEI Support and am beginning to fear Backupper is half-baked. Specifically, it won't/can't verify the back-up in sector-by-sector or image file.
It looks like a very useful tool, but looks are not functionality.

Hello Jim,
Thanks for your response.
The error code is very nearly identical for all five attempts and is as follows:
Invalid image file. This file may be not complete or has been damaged,
or it does not match with the current software version.
.
Following a F/f crash, I did a system restore to recover my previous session.First attempt "not successfully completed" so I retried the restore - same result. Tried another recovery date - same result. This is the only OS hiccup I can think of. Am presently running Qin7 in this error mode. Am going to try another restore from Genie Timeline or Zoolz.
The error code and message doesn't actually shed any light.
If System Restore is not completing successfully, that is symptomatic of a problem with the operating system somewhere.
Have you tried running the "sfc /scannow" command?
If not, open a command prompt (run as admin), type in the command sfc /scannow (or copy and paste from here), then press Enter.
This is Windows' System File Checker which will let you know if anything is amiss plus attempt any necessary repairs.
Cheers... Jim
Thanks Jim,
Ran SFC and indeed it found a few anomalies and fixed them. I cannot attach the .txt file (wrong file type).
Rebooted and ran Backupper again - no change.
Ran another different Restore - no change
Removed only download in last two weeks (Skype), rebooted - no change.
Only change I have noticed is Avast is not activating as quickly as before last month's reboot).
Since all my restore points have been removed by a Windows Update, do you think I'll be better off re-installing Win7 or have you got another command line trick up your sleeve?

It's looking worse each time I reboot - PdNotes has stopped running between reboots, QuickRestoreMaker has also stopped working, and F/F has lost it previous session history despite my closing the tabs in an orderly fashion before a reboot.
Yes, yes, and yes.
SAS & MBAM run daily and quarantine mostly adware cookies in SAS case, and a rootkit today in MBAM case.
Unless you have a suggestion, I'll have to re-install Win 7.
Thanks for your time,
mgb
