I've just bought an SSD on which I'll be installing Windows 10.
I've been doing a fair bit of reading up on this, with particular regard to changing from native IDE to AHCI in the BIOS, particularly if you have a dual boot Win 7/10 or others.
Some motherboards allow you to run IDE on some channels and AHCI on others, say 0, 1,2 IDE and 3,4,5 AHCI for example.
It seems best to prepare the OS for the change first and then change the BIOS to AHCI.
I'll follow up on this when I've successfully completed the install on the SSD and all drives are booting as they should.
Amazing how much it fills up and also, a 250Gb isn't really that size as we all know, unless I've overlooked something.
Mind you, the games nowadays take up a huge amount of space and I've got 2 installed which is 55Gb to see how performance is.
To be honest, the game performance is not that noticeable except for load times, which are very fast with the SSD. Better off keeping the games larger than 15Gb on a data drive (spinner).
For example, this Samsung 840 Evo 1Tb for $369 on Newegg doesn't seem so crazy really.

We don't have the luxury of being able to have stuff shipped here from Best Buy, Amazon or Newegg due to government restrictions, so last week I paid $900 pesos for a 1Tb Toshiba, which at the official government dollar/peso exchange is around USD100.
This means that I've been able to free up a WD 250Gb drive that I'll be using in a recon build to sell on. I mean, 5 HDDs is just a little much. Besides, this one was making a dreadful humming noise that drove me nuts.
Hmm, there's an article right there about governments shafting us......................
