How do I add a file extension to W10

I was using Quattro Pro 12 on my XP desk top. I purchased Word Perfect Office X7 to use on my new W10. Copied all of the .qpw files to the new computer. When I try to open them on the new program, I get "class not registered" How do I get the W10 to recognize the old .qpw files?

Hi Walt, and welcome to the DCT Forum.

If you right click on the qpw files you transferred over, and then select "Properties", what does it say under "Open with"?
