It appears my flash drive is no longer being recognized. After I plug it in I cannot see any of my files currently on the drive. I can see the entry in the "K" drive but its grayed out. Instead, it is pointing to a CD entry which is not correct.

Any assistance at this time would truly be appreciated.

Thanks and have a good day!

Have you tried the drive in another computer?

Can you open Computer Management (type it in the box on the taskbar)? If so, click on Disk Management on the left.

With the USB drive plugged in can you take a screenshot?

No, I have not tried the Flash drive in another PC.

Here is the attachment you requested.

From what I can see the reference is incorrectly reporting the flash drive as a CD. The option it needs is Disk 1 - Removable (K:).

Thanks again for your help!

David, I am not sure what happened to you. Can you please respond to the info I sent last week?

Thanks and have a great day!

Disclosing the make of your flash drive would help. If this drive is U3 compatible then you might want to remove the launchpad application. I would strongly suggest you try this flash drive in a PC that is not running W10.

Sans Cruzer is the make of the flash drive and it is U3 compatible.

I just checked it on another PC running Win 7. Same results - not picking up the flash drive. It recognizes it as a CD drive instead of a flash drive.

Do you still want me to remove the launchpad app?

Thanks again for your support!

I am going to supply you with a couple of links to investigate and you can decide whether or not to remove launchpad. I have had to remove launchpad and reformat all of my SanDisk usb sticks. Be advised you may or may not save your data.
https://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2550/~/removing%2Funinstalling-u3-launchpad-on-a-pc This link is from SanDisk.
https://superuser.com/questions/204429/formating-usb-pen-that-emulates-a-cd-rom?rq=1 I use the HP tool, but it has to be run with admin rights and in compatibility mode with XP, this tool will reformat but will not save any data. Good luck.

Ok, I just discovered that another flash drive did work properly and appeared on the "E" drive. So it appears Sans flash drive is what the issue is. It still appears to be coming up with a CD reference when I plug in the drive. And yes, I did remove Launchpad. I would like to format the drive if possible.

Thanks again for your support!

You can download and run the HP USB Disk Format Tool or try Windows Disk Management or even Diskpart, if you want to use the Command Prompt.

This is what I use to format USB drives. After formatting you can use Windows Disk Management to create a new drive partition.

With the fact that there is important files on it I wouldn't give up on it just yet , there has to be a way to get those files off the usb stick.
