Hi everybody,

I'm looking for a backup solution for my Lubuntu-system (Lubuntu 16.04 LTS, 64 bit).
What I want to do is create a system-backup, i.e. a backup that saves everything: bootloader and all partitions (I´ ve got just two partitions: "/" and "/home").
I want to save the backup on an external HDD.

Of course my main priority is to be able to restore the system if need be, and my system should be bootable again.
What would be a qualified programme to achieve that goal?

Any suggestions are welcome.
Many thanks in advance.
Greetings

P.S.:
I´ ve heard about clonezilla. Obviously that should be worth considering ??????

Hi Rosika
Never have ran any Linux backup software, I would manually backup my /Home folder to a USB drive but that would be about all I would do. However here are a few cross-platform open source Linux backup software.
http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/10-things/10-outstanding-linux-backup-utilities/ I am sure their are others.
If W10 gets any worse than it is then I just may have to join you with a dual boot with W7.

Hi Daniel,

thanks for your reply.
The link you provided makes for interesting reading. They don´t mention "clonezilla" though.
Nevertheless the alternatives are surely worth considering.

Have a nice weekend and many greetings.

Clonezilla has a good reputation in the open source community and it will do exactly what you are requesting. And it's FREE! 🙂

Hi David,

thanks for your reply.
So clonezilla seems to be a good recommendation after all. So I´ll go for it.

Have a nice day.
Greetings.
