Hello altogether,

I have got a problem with my web-stick:

I can establish connection alright, but after a certain time (rather irregularly) it disconnects.

As roaming is allowed switching between UMTS and HSDPA occurs from
time to time. I don´t know whether this is the cause of my problems.

When using Windows (WIN 8.1, 64 bit) there is some sort of connection
assistant (provided by MedionMobile) which allows me to choose between
2G and 3G and set this parameter as fixed.

With Lubuntu there is no such possibility in the Network-Connections-GUI.
My question now is: Does anybody know of a possibility to set 2G or 3G as fixed by using the terminal?

Additional info:

web-stick: Huawei E1550, Medion S4012 (using AldiTalk, and therefore e-plus as provider).

system: Lubuntu 16.04 LTS, 64 bit

Many thanks ins advance.
Rosika

Hi David,

thank you so much for your reply.
I think the askubuntu-article would be the way to go for me.
It says:

GNOME PPP is an easy to use graphical dialup connection configuring and dialing tool with system tray icon support.

It uses GNOME/GTK+ for its graphical interface and integrates well in GNOME desktop environment, but it can be used in other environments

So obviously I can get that running in Lubuntu as well.
And it seems to be providing the possibility of configuring UMTS/GPRS-settings.
Detailed Info at:
https://wiki.ubuntuusers.de/UMTS_per_PCMCIA/GNOME_PPP/
(in German).

So I´m going to try that.

Thanks again for your links.
Have a good day.
Greetings
Rosika
