G'Mornin' to one and all -
I recently left another computer forum because the management of said forum allowed unbridled and caustic political comment and direct attacks upon the character, intelligence and expertise of its members. I am assured by an esteemed member of Dave's Computer Tips that I will find within this forum the honesty, integrity and respect that I desire - no - require. I look forward to a much better and pleasant experience here.
Now - I don't want anyone to get excited over this new kid on the block as I know just enough about computers to become mired in deep trouble on occasion. My need for this sometimes damnable machine is limited to extensive browsing for information of interest, the news, and my main passion which is music - both arranging and performing. Given that, my contribution to the resolution of another's problems will be minimal - if not nil. I'm certain that I'll be able to glean a few tidbits of information which I might - hesitantly - put to use. Should I occasionally post a seemingly plebian question, then, please be kind, take me by the hand, and guide me through what I would perceive to be turbulent and uncharted waters.
Respectfully,
Richard
Good afternoon, Nightowl -
My sincerest thanks for the welcome. I have the utmost respect and admiration for those of you whose computer expertise far, far exceeds mine. I'll try not to lean upon you too heavily for seemingly mundane problems but, then, 'tis said that there is no such thing as a dumb question if you honestly don't know the answer. And, BOY, I don't have a CLUE when it comes to much of this esoteric computer stuff! Please be patient and know that I will be most appreciative for any assistance offerred.
Respectfully,
Richard
Hello Richard. Glad to have you on the forum!
We'll do our best to keep things from becoming caustic. I did leave a lot of leeway in the General Discussion area, but the first thing I hope everyone always remembers is to be nice and respectful to others. Hopefully that will allow some thoughtful discussions that don't end in a flame war.
