I've been bouncing around the web since it was BBS's with flashing green cursors. My history has been such that either I have all the time in the world to be online or I barely have time for my email. Dave's newsletter has long been a part of the latter.

I look forward to probing the corners and reading the threads. I usually only post if I think I have something to offer, though that's always subject to interpretation. I'm always available to help if someone has an issue in the area of my professional expertise, so feel free to PM me. Everything else is just an opinion...

Shalom!

Welcome! Pull up a chair next to the fire and sit a spell! (OK, I'm not as funny as I think I am )

Texbem,
In all seriousness, don't be afraid to post. It's always nice to see a problem or solution through the eyes of someone else!

Hope you enjoy your stay. Poke around and get to know everyone!

Hey Texbem - Welcome aboard.

[b:2hidvos5][i:2hidvos5]"if someone has an issue in the area of my professional expertise, so feel free to PM me."[/i:2hidvos5] [/b:2hidvos5]........We would much prefer our members actually post about any problems/issues on the forum and any answers/solutions be posted in the same manner. That way, we can [i:2hidvos5]all [/i:2hidvos5]reap the benefit from any advice given....now or in the future.

Anyhoo, ditto on Dave's comments, glad to have you here.

Cheers now....JIM

Hey Texbem! What is your area of expertise? I'm curious. You never know what interesting knowledge others may have!

The reason for the PM invite was so as not to clutter the forum with non-computer threads. I'm a HVAC master with 35 years experience, from mobile homes to building automation. My special love is energy efficiency as it applies to the entire structure, especially alternative construction such as SIPs that are virtually air tight. Mostly I would expect a holler from someone who woke to a blazing hot or freezing cold house and wanted a little triage before committing bookoo bucks to the first available repairman. Or just some advice on their next home or revamping the current one. Just as soon not wind up in a Google search, so made it an in-house only offer. Feel free to delete if it crosses some line...

Hey Texbem - Please don't feel offended. There is absolutely no need for any deletion. Your original 'invitation' did not specify any area of expertise so I assumed it must be something to do with computers/software/hardware/etc. (a reasonable assumption?), and that would not be appropriate for using the personal message system.....that's all.

Cheers now...Jim

texbem,

Nothing to worry about at all. I actually enjoy learning about people that visit the site. It really is an amazing bunch! Everything from doctors and lawyers to seniors teaching other seniors to use computers - and everything between. You never know when you are going to need info, be it computer or otherwise, which is the exact reason I created the General Discussion section. Truly a wealth of knowledge available (hopefully wealthier as we gain members) here.

Thanks for sharing that with us. Who knows what future discussions may bring, but I now know who to call at 4am when my AC doesn't work!

and texbem -- the best part of it all is -- the general discussion area is for...well, general discussion. We can talk about HVAC there!

My first job was working as an HVAC Installation Assistant (I got coffee for the installers, ran errands, picked up scraps...)

Welcome!
