What is the possible protection in addition to "watermark" your own photos and graphics published in IT?

Call me a pessimist, but I assume anything I put on the Internet will be used liberally by whoever wants to do so.
Copyrighting it, trademarking it, watermarking it -- those are all good ways to protect yourself, but won't prevent any duplication...

I asked this question because in my country one of the popular social networking sites has changed the rules and reserved, that from now on will be possible to use graphic materials users for marketing purposes.This provoked a wave of indignation and escape to Facebook.
However'm interested in the possibility of copy protection.
But I hope that it will in future be constructed mechanisms to protect against unauthorized copying.
Until then, I'll have to use the available methods.
