Everyone should have a cell phone and be reachable 24/7, right? Well, for those living in apartments, or who move often, it is a cheaper method of maintaining the same phone number without paying for reconnection land line fees and a blessing in case of an emergency.

Yes, some still have land lines and cell phones as well, but this is not the reason for this post. I enjoy the comforts technology offers us, but fine tune everything to make technology suit me, not me suit technology.

I used to have a company cell phone for company business. As per personal use, I do not need a portable home (cell or cordless). Am very happy with the old fashioned land line (and yes, the phone and service is touch tone). Also use that primitive answering machine device (able to screen calls) even though we have Caller ID, there are times we do not want to talk to the callers. Leave your message and will get back to you at our convenience.

I have friends and relatives who are glued to these marvels, not all, but enough to make me worry about their addiction. They must have this device in their hands all the times (use blue tooth while driving). The Cell Phone has made them a prisoner so to speak. When not talking, they play games, do one line searches, watch videos, and whatever suits their fancy. Wonder if the person(s) who came up with that name of Cell, knew it was going to be this addictive?

I am happy, feel better (is not sharing wonderful). Hope this post brings some joy to you, the reader. Replies are always welcome, Mindblower!

Hi,
Nowadays the most important is to have a smartphone, not just a cell phone. The mobile industry is on another level and about to go further.

I've had several smartphones for years now and used to use ALL the features until I simply got tired of all the intrusions.
On the other hand, I'm simply intrigued by the technology they manage to pack into these phones and it's getting more sophisticated on every launch of a flagship phone.
I'm still amazed at the camera on mine as well as the note-taking functions.
My current shiny thing is a Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and yesterday I did a factory reset much as a new Windows install, but this time I made sure I only had the apps installed that I really wanted and that wouldn't bug me. So no Facebook, Linkedin and numerous others.
The important thing here is to take control of your gadgets and make them work for you.

Finally got to disconnect the phone, I see no use in it anymore, everyone uses mobile phones.
