Hey Jackie - It would help to know which method you are using to connect to the web; e.g. cable, DSL (broadband) via modem/router, etc? Also, who is providing your service??

I am connected via DSL (broadband), my ISP is Internode and I am currently on a 1500/256kbps plan. My download speed is 1370 and upload speed 200. The only way I could gain any real/effective increase in those numbers would be to change my plan through Internode to one which gives me higher speeds.....e.g. 8192/384kbps. Of course that would cost more money too!!

There is software around which [i:2w5ic6oc]claim[/i:2w5ic6oc] to accelerate internet speed but, in my experience, they are not terribly effective. I've yet to test one which made any noticeable difference.

cheers....JIM

Late to the party, Jimbo...

My DSL is with Earthlink; has been since '99. (They bought Mindspring who bought my original ISP Netcom ['95]) The service is plenty fast, but I bumped it up a bit by changing DNS to OpenDNS Basic. If you haven't looked them over, try http://www.opendns.com/
