Forwarding Emails

Dave raised some good ideas on this topic. Most of the forwarded emails I receive are jokes from friends. Most know how to send emails and do an excellent job of stripping the email so it's clean (and it means one email per person and NOT part of a mailing list).

To those who say it's faster to send to a group, well, maybe you like to have your email address shared with the entire world too. That example of 65 email address is low. All you need is several people forwarding the same email to their contact list, and the growth is astronomical. I've come close to loosing some friends because they were too lazy and did not take me seriously. One send me a very nice joke, which was forwarded to the same group of people over 5 times, before he added me to the mailing list.

What I'm trying to say, is the email was expanded over 5 times. As I scrolled down, I saw the header, read the joke, saw the picture, scrolled down, saw the header, read the joke, saw the picture, I saw the header, read the joke, saw the picture, scrolled down, I saw the header, read the joke, saw the picture, scrolled down, I saw the header, read the joke, saw the picture, scrolled down, I saw the header, read the joke, saw the picture, scrolled down,I saw the header, read the joke, saw the picture, scrolled down, I saw the header, read the joke, saw the picture, scrolled down, I saw the header, read the joke, saw the picture, scrolled down, I saw the header, read the joke, saw the picture, scrolled down,
......... hope I'm getting through.

Am happy Dave found a better way to explain the frustration some of us experience with those who just don't understand the error in forwarding, and forward everything, Mindblower!

That was probably funnier than the original joke the email was about!

Mindblower's and Dave's comments make a lot of sense. I have long been "disturbed" by the sometimes very nice emails with prayers, stories, etc., with instructions to immediately send to eight people and you will be surprised, or your prayers will be answered, etc. I gently try to tell such really nice people to please do not include me.

Another issue, I have taken to using the "BCC" routine to send to most groups, especially because one does not know who else might receive the email.

Has anyone else noticed a dramatic increase in phishing mail, especially with free money, and participation in awards, "Dear Friend" and so forth? Most of these are insults to intelligence!

All it takes is one person responding to make it a profitable venture. As long as there are people who fall for this stuff, the level of complexity won't rise. Yay?
