FireFox TAB(s) Problem

Two weeks ago, after turning on my computer and logging in to FireFox. Much to my surprise, 5 New tabs popped up. There 2 instances of Digg, 2 instances of CNN News and 1 instance of a movie channel, called Movie Channel.com. I never have downloaded either of these three sites.
I figured out that this no big deal and used my option to turn those tabs off. Much to my surprise, there was not the little x in right corner of each of those tabs.
I checked the six tabs that are set up to load when FireFox boots. They were OK. I could close them or turn them back on at my my command.
I started going through my installed Extensions to find all that were involved with Tabs. I used their tools and still could not get rid of the Tabs. I found an ext. online that will install the X turn off. Did not make a dang difference. Yah', my permanent Tabs could still turn off .
These 5 Interlopers are still up there on my open Tabs List.
I need some help Y'all

Hey Twospirit - Sure sounds like malware.

Possibilities:

1) Corrupt/incompatible add-on:-Try starting Firefox in 'Safe mode'. Go to [b:2l33zy13]Start>All Programs>Mozilla Firefox[/b:2l33zy13] and click on [b:2l33zy13]Mozilla Firefox (Safe Mode)[/b:2l33zy13]. If those uninvited tabs do not open is Safe Mode then you most likely have an errant add-on; you will need to disable each add-on, one at a time, until you find the culprit.

2) Corrupt/infected profile:- Try creating a new Firefox profile and then run Firefox using the new bare profile. How to create new profile in Firefox: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Creating_a_ne ... on_Windows

3) Malware:- If neither of the above steps make any difference then most likely culprit would be malware; perform full/thorough scans with any resident security software plus with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and/or SUPERAntiSpyware.

HTH,
Cheers....Jim

P.S. Love ya siggy....so true!!
