I receive speeds of over 60Mbpps on my computers but the tablet can barely reach 30Mbpps. Is this normal, Mindblower!

Hey MB,

Yes mate, that would be quite normal. Connection speeds depend on several factors:

1) Wired vs WiFi - a wired connection will generally outperform WiFi
2) The quality of the WiFi network card and what protocols it supports - modern WiFi cards that support the newer protocols will generally outperform older cards
3) If connecting via WiFi - distances from the source (router)

Bear in mind too, if connecting via WiFi, that the 2.4GHz channel is more suitable to travel over distances, the 5GHz channel will provide a stronger signal but over much shorter distances.

Generally speaking, I would not expect a tablet to achieve anywhere near the same speeds as a computer.

Thank you, Jim. Seems the slower connection occurred after the last system update. The router and tablet can connect via 2.4GHz and 5GHz. Not sure which is used, as they are less than 10 feet apart, Mindblower!

If the tablet is less than 10 feet away from the router, with no walls or other impediments between, you'll achieve a much faster connection via the 5GHz channel. You need to get into the tablet's settings to see what channel is being used and, if connecting via the 2.4GHz option, change that to the 5GHz option.

Sorry for the late reply Jim. Tablet was set to use 5Ghz and surprisingly the speed problem vanished. Wonder what Cell phone speeds are like, Mindblower!
