Last week Jim spoke about this extra layer of protection offered by VoodooShield. I tried it out (including the free offer to upgrade), am running both versions, and I'm happy to report my findings. But you should re-read the article Jim posted if you're not familiar with how VoodooShield works.

I was attempting to d/l a freeware program when out of the blue I received an alert from VoodooShield informing me
"A threat has been detected!!!"
Troj.WinREGAgent with a Block and Quarantine selection
.

Would have appreciated an [b]Allow selection /b] as well, since it was a false positive, but nevertheless, it's nice to see that a potential risk was blocked. Since VoodooShield is new, there might be growing pains, or it's just that VoodooShield is set to block at a very high level. I'd rather be safer than sorry, Mindblower!

Hiya Mindblower,

Could you please show exactly how to find Jim's post on VoodooShield?

Thanks for that, Jim.

Looks quite interesting, as do most of the recommendations from yourself .

Just an update. There is a support forum (always nice to find a product which has one), and some of the comments were rather interesting. Seems we all don't read prior to posting comments (questions), yes I'll include myself in this group.

VoodooShield is not as new as I thought, over 1 year old, with the latest revision 2.07 on 8 Oct 14. Following the detailed links, you can get very interesting articles. Happy reading, Mindblower!

Up until now, VoodooShield has been a premium product, no free version available. Then, just recently, the developer decided to release a version as freeware and that's why VoodooShield suddenly came to peoples' attention.

So, although VoodooShield itself may be over 12 months old, the free version is a very recent release.

That's true Jim, yet the folks at VoodooShield were so impressed with your article, they granted readers (including those at their forum), to get a link and upgrade to the premium version. I'm running both, and one gets the same level of protection from both copies. The added perks from the paid are the additional Settings (bells and whistles mostly) and an indirect link to their forum (that's how I found it - one of many different ways). And I've been playing with the Settings, (using my free upgrade - not sure if it's still available), to tweak some features (unlike that of a mechanic - my hands remain clean). Cannot wait for the next revision. It's supposed to correct a known (discovered) problem, Mindblower!
