Hi folks
Thanks so much for your help in the past with computer issues. Here is yet another one I'm hoping you can help with.
I possess a Bible program as an iso file. When I examine it closely it contains about 21gb of material that would span five dvd's. I know I can span the disks using my Ashampoo Burning Studio which appears to be no problem as the program will tell me
when to insert the next disk required. What I really want to know if it is possible to span in such a way as the proper parts of the program are on the required disks. For example if I spanned then the setup.exe program would most likely be on the last spanned disk whereas it should be on the first disk along with other bits and pieces to enable the program to run properly. Is it possible to do this or what I'm asking is pie in the sky? BTW I don't have the original disks otherwise it would be a simple matter to copy them. Can you help at all possible and if there is a program that will do what I want can you point me in the right direction to get it? Thanks so much. Kind regards, Rev Gerald

My first thought here is to burn the iso to a flash drive that is large enough for all your data. You might then find the setup.exe and install the software to your PC and then access the data on the flash drive. You could then copy and paste the data from the flash drive to a folder on your PC.

Question: do you want the Bible program permanently installed on a specific computer or do you want it on discs for portability, so it can be installed on any computer?

The former is quite simple, the latter problematic.

Hi Jim
Thanks for reply. Ideally I would like the program on disks for portability. I assume it
will not be easy to do!
Kind regards
Gerald

That's correct Gerald, in fact I'd say that to burn a large ISO to multiple discs in the correct order would be nigh on impossible to do.

That leaves us with the USB flash drive option as proposed by dandl. You'd need a 32GB flash drive, is that do-able?

If yes, I'll post back with full instructions.

Excellent!!

One more question - sorry, I should have asked this earlier. Do you know; were the original discs "installation" discs (that is just to install the program) or could the entire program be run direct from the discs with no installation required?

Hi Jim

Sorry for delay in getting back to you. Work as per usual!!
In answer to your question the original disk was an iso that
I extracted and then installed. All the files are in A-Z order
as are any folders. Comes to 20gb. Hope this helps.

Thanks
Gerald

Okay then, that's a piece of cake.

All you need do is extract the files and then transfer the extracted files to the flash drive. When you want to install the program, simply connect the flash drive and copy everything to a suitable location on the PC - the "Downloads" folder will do - then install from there.

Do you still have a software which will extract the ISO for you? Bandizip is a good one, free and there is a portable version available: http://www.bandisoft.com/bandizip/

Hi Jim

Really sorry about not getting back to you re above topic. Work commitments take over one's life at times so that other things go by the board and computng is one of them.
Thanks for your help with the above topic. Really appreciated it. Took your advice re flash drive and all is working perfectly.
On a slightly different note I have been using Office 2013 64 bit today quite a lot and notice that when I try to open Access or Excel I get a box asking me to wait while configuration is taking place. Word is perfect but not these two. Is there a handy way to deal with his very annoying problem? Thanks again.

Kind regards
Gerald

No problem Gerald.

This issue with Office is a common one and solutions vary. It's one of those situations which is almost impossible to diagnose and fix remotely, with no hands on access.

I searched for and came across this article which explains all the most common solutions in one place: http://www.thewindowsclub.com/fix-please-wait-while-windows-configures-microsoft-office-message

Hope that helps,
Cheers... Jim
