Hi altogether,

I´ve got a problem with the virtualization-software "evalaze v. 2.2.1.1".

The programme needs no installment. It´s just an executable file. So far so good.

So I tried to "pack" a programme (in my case Google chrome) via evalaze.

First evalaze scans the whole system (including registry) in a prescan. After that the respective programme (chrome) is installed. The next step is a postscan done by evalaze. After that the difference between the prescan state and the postscan state is figured out.

With this information an exe-file is created which then can be run in a sabdboxed environment provided by evalaze.

This at least is the theory as far as I understood it.

All this in fact went well.

As soon as I opened the newly created exe-file the evalaze-window shortly showed up indicating that chrome is now starting in the sandbox. After that the evalaze window closed and ...... nothing happened.

So I looked up the respective entries in the task-manager and learned that "EvaStarter free edition" and "Google chrome" are started but only as background-processes and not as apps.

Thus chrome remains hidden and doesn´t show up on the desktop.

What seems to be the problem now? What have I done wrong?

Perhaps there´s someone out there who has got a suggestion.

Many thanks in advance.

Greetings Rosika Smile

P.S.: system: WIN8.1 update2, 64bit

Hi Rosika - Welcome to the DCT Forum. :)

Because this type of software is utilizing before and after scans, it is absolutely critical that no other programs are running during the process. Any changes made to the system by additional activity while Evalaze is working will be seen as part of the installation and subsequently cause issues.

When you go through the Evalaze process, you'll need to disable or switch off anything that can possibly access the system and make changes during that time.

Evalaze is a pretty specialist piece of software with which I have no personal experience. I tried to locate a support forum for you but couldn't find any. Evalaze's own support appears to be restricted to the commercial edition, however, you may like to try contacting Evalaze support here: http://www.evalaze.de/en/Contact/

Cheers... Jim

Hi Jim,

thanks a lot for your reply. And thanks for the welcome too.
I like Daves Computer Tips very much and I´m glad to have access to the forum now. Smile

Because this type of software is utilizing before and after scans, it is absolutely critical that no other programs are running during the process.

I am pretty sure I fulfilled that requirement. In fact I didn´t even touch my PC during scans.
My problem seems to be the fact that "EvaStarter free edition" and "Google chrome" are started but only as background-processes and not as apps.
I am not quite sure whether or not this has anything to do with it but perhaps the fact that chrome had already been installed before I was using evalaze has something to do with it.

However I am very thankful to you for trying to locate a support forum for me.
And also thanks for giving my that link. Al least I think it´s worth a shot.

Thanks again for your help.

Greetings
