Hi everyone,
I am a dexpot-user (virtual desktops) and I am generally very satisfied with it. It´s really a good programme which makes working with the PC more comfortable.
Yet there´s one thing which is really annoying. That´s assigning applications.
I´ve set my dexpot the following way:
Firefox is assigned to desktop 1 and thunderbird to desktop 2. And: "switch to desktop. never". So when I click on a link in an e-mail the respective link is opened in firefox but my view remains on desktop 2 where thunderbird is open.
That´s just the way I want it to be.
The whole thing works quite well but just for about 20 to 30 times. Then suddenly when clicking on a link in an e-mail (thunderbird, desktop 2) firefox opens on desktop2 as well, parallel to the open firefox on desktop 1!
That shouldn´t be the case as firefox is specifically assigned to desktop1.
If I close firefox on desktop 2 firefox is closed on desktop 1 as well.
What can I do about this?
I´d really lke to continue using dexpot as I cannot find any other programme which is able to match it.
An suggestions are welcome.
Many thanks in advance.
Greetings
Rosika
P.S.:
System: WIN8.1 update2 (64bit)
Dexpot-Version: 1.6.14. Build 2439
Hi Jim,
thanks for your reply.
Well, at least I can say that I may close dexpot after the respective problem has occurred and start it anew.
After that the whole things works fine, but just for while before it happens again.
Nevertheless I´m going to look into that matter more deeply. Perhaps I´ll come up whith something that works.
In the meanwhile thanks again.

Probably not related, but worth a shot...
Do you have Firefox set to "Open links that open in a new window" set to New Tab or Current tab?
My though is that it is set to "New Window" and that is confusing Dexpot since the firefox.exe process is already running, which results in a new instance in the other virtual desktop.
Hi David,
thanks for your reply.
Do you have Firefox set to "Open links that open in a new window" set to New Tab or Current tab?
As a matter of fact I´ve set Firefox to open links in a new tab. So your guess in right.
Now what can I do? Should I revert to open links in current tab? Thus I´d have to sacrifice a bit of convenience. Yet if it helps ......
But there´s still one thing I don´t get. Why is it that the described phenomenon doesn´t occur all the time but only once in a while?
Nevertheless I´m going to try to alter settings.
As soon as I´m able to come up with some results I´m going to post them here.
Thanks again for your help.
Greetings
Rosika
