The freeware version of Nero 9 has been updated to v.10. As with 9, it burns and copies CDs and DVDs - with a major "gotcha". The new Nero installs the Ask Toolbar without notifying the user. You can always uninstall the toolbar afterward, but there's a workaround that keeps it off to begin with. The instructions are here:

Hey Ron - Thanks for this updated info.
Nero Lite (free) version is, IMO, not a serious contender in the freeware burning stakes. The forced installation of the Ask Toolbar is a major detraction....yes there is a workaround but that does not diminish the fact that this is a very underhanded approach from Nero in the first place. Another major critisim is; even though there are only two functions available in this free version, other features are listed in the GUI but lead only to 'offers' for upgrades....blatant adware tactics.
Seems to me this is merely a platform for Nero to push their commercial products, with a couple of basic functions thrown in to help attract unwary downloaders.
Here is a link to a good article (re Nero Lite) on the Computelogy site: http://computelogy.com/2010/07/nero-bur ... UTELOGY%29
Ron, I know you would be aware of all this, my post is not so much a response to you but rather a general warning of caution for prospective downloaders.
Cheers....Jim

Follow the instructions to get your full version key."
Fwiw, I won't even use the full version of Nero anymore - just too bloated.
