Hay dodester. Thanks for the comments. The purpose to convert, is/was to play on a DVD (with DivX) player and NOT on a computer. Besides, those in the know prefer to use the GOM player. It totally rocks, Mindblower!

Hey Guys - GOMPlayer is my media player of choice but I do know that VLC is also extremely versatile and a very good player. Don't reckon there is much to pick between them, just comes down to personal preferences.

hey mindblower, yeah am sure that winav Vc converts them to xvid and dvd also, or dvd to xvid. you get my drift lol, could have went on all night there

I've used GOM player but it crashes on me from time to time, and there are files that it won't play at times but VLC plays without problems.
