Media Players: My favorites

Free media players just get better and better. Currently, I'm using KMPlayer http://kmplayer.en.softonic.com/. It supports nearly all formats, audio and video. There's no help file, but using it isn't that much of a challenge. For a really nice, lightweight Mp3 player, I like 1by1 http://mpesch3.de1.cc/1by1.html. All of 124Kb, this player handles cue sheets, remembers where it was in a folder full of files, and more.
Similar to KMPlayer is Spider Player, vary nice media player with many options. http://mpesch3.de1.cc/1by1.html I have the $ware version and use it often.

Everyone has their favorites; these just happen to be mine. ymmv.

Unless I need added functionality I usually download the K-lite codec pack and stick with media player, but I just had a look and those appear to be some nice choices - may have to check them out!

When it comes to media players I have very simple needs.....if it plays my files OK then I am a happy chappy.

Never seen much point in installing a 3rd party audio player myself, WMP does everything I want/need and it is already there. For video I prefer GOMPlayer, lots of video formats and codecs supported with that one. Also a fan of VLC, there's not much between them in my opinion, I have just stuck with GOM coz, so far, it has done the job. If GOM ever went of the rails, VLC would be my next choice.

Cheers all.....JIM

I prefer GOM over VLC because it lets you skip around flv files. Or it used to. I upgraded to the newest version and that didn't work anymore. So I downgraded!

Hey Zig - GOMPlayer always has and still does play .flv files......I have the latest version and I can assure you it plays them perfectly.

Hi Jim, never a problem playing the files (even with the new version).

However, being able to skip around the file seems to have disappeared in the latest version. Can't fast forward or skip around or nothing.

Oh, OK...sorry Zig, I misunderstood. Never noticed that, probably because I don't use that feature very often.

UPDATE: 2 minutes later.

Just tried an .flv file playing through the latest version......fast forward, slo-mo, all worked perfectly???
