It appears the popular file sharing software Limewire is doomed. A U.S. District Judge has just recently issued an injunction against the company which operates the software and ordered managers to immediately disable "the searching, downloading, uploading, file trading...and/or all functionality" of the LimeWire software.
The injunction is the result of a copyright complaint lodged by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) back in 2007.
We now await the interesting bit.....the damages claim!! Legal experts are quoting big numbers but we may never know the outcome, what's the betting on an out of court settlement?
Limewire was nothing more than a virus distribution program in all reality. Good riddance!
Everytime I receive a computer that has Limewire on it I know I'm in for a long, hard virus removal session.
Never used it, won't miss it.

Yes well, Limewire has provided untold hours of fun for me.............if you call cleaning up horribly infected machines fun!
One of my granddaughters, who has thankfully now grown out of that stage, insisted on using Limewire.....why, coz all the other kids did (of course!).
Her machine used to get so badly messed up with malware it was virtually impossible to clean. In the end I decided cleaning was just too big a job, so I simply left her to do her thing until the system became so badly infected it was no longer usable. Then I would wipe the drive for her, fresh install the OS and start all over. One of the very first things she would always do is........yep, you guessed it.....install Limewire!
Now that's what I call a vicious circle!!

I use to use limewire all the time and never got a virus. lol Guess I was lucky. I use to download only mp3 files and nothing else.
