I've been searching for a freeware timer which includes 2 main functions:
1) Run a program (any program) for a specified amount of time.
2) Time how long a certain program has been running - how long to completion....e.g. scanner, defragger, etc.
Anyone know of anything that will do these things for me??
Thanks.....Jim
Jim,
I can't remember exactly which, but I believe [url=http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb795533.aspx:2l8sx0t6]Process Explorer or Process Monitor[/url:2l8sx0t6] will show you how much processing time each process has incurred. Unfortunately, you would need to watch the program as it completed the operation you were trying to time, as the process time would increase until the program was closed - Unless the program called a new process to perform the operation you are trying to track.
As far as a way to run a program and stop it after a predefined time this is all I could find:
