Ever asked yourself "Where did all my gigabytes go? These two utilities allow you to drill down into a drive to see what's on it.

Folder Size 1.4 http://www.rotebetasoftware.net/wp/free
At 1.57MB, this is substantially larger than Folder Size. It's available as an installer or a USB U3 version. Last updated in Sept. '09, it supports Win 2K to Win 7. Just as easy to use as the smaller utility and more actively in development.

TreeSize is new to me, but I like it. Folder Size is mature; it just works. As always, ymmv.

I like both those ones Ron, particularly Folder Size.

Here are a few more worthy of consideration:

[b:34oz9t0m]Scanner[/b:34oz9t0m] - Tiny download (just 165kb) and portable. Uses a sunburst chart to display the usage of hard disk or other media. Displays all major files and folders from all directory levels at once. V2.10 released Jan, 2009. Unsure of supported Windows OS's.: http://www.steffengerlach.de/f.....index.html

[b:34oz9t0m]WinDirStat[/b:34oz9t0m] - Probably the best known and certainly among the most popular. Displays disk, file and directory sizes in a treelist as well as graphically in a treemap, Open source. Download size 645kb. Latest version v1.1.2 released Sept, 2007. Supports all Windows to Vista: http://windirstat.info/ or http://sourceforge.net/project.....indirstat/

[b:34oz9t0m]SpaceSniffer[/b:34oz9t0m] - Employs a treemap visualisation layout. Great feature set but larger download size too (1196kb). Latest version v1.1.2.0 released Dec, 2009. Supports all Windows to W7. Requires Java: http://www.uderzo.it/main_products/spac ... tures.html

All in all Ron, I reckon I like your 2 suggestions the best. Scanner is worthy of consideration though for basics, it's tiny and portable too.

Cheers....JIM

WinDirStat has become the "hot" utility for this purpose in the past year. It's a good app; no one can go wrong using it. Like I said about folder Size, though: it just works.
