It's been 6 years since CCleaner's initial release and this is the first major revision in that time. CCleaner 3 includes some very useful new features which can only add to its appeal:

The new "Drive Wiper" tool allows users to scrub free space only or wipe a hard drive completely. It offers three levels of secure deletion, including a DOD-level three pass option, NSA-level seven-pass cleaning, and 35 pass Gutmann-level deep scrubbing. As always, the higher the level of security selected the longer the process will take.

New also is the ability to select specific Internet cookies you do not want deleted. That is, IMO, a major plus!

Version 3 supports more Windows programs too, including added support for Microsoft Silverlight, AVG 2011, Audacity, LogMeIn, Hamachi, BitTorrent, and Windows Game Explorer. Existing support for Google Chrome, Internet Explorer 9 beta, and the torrent client Vuze has also been improved.

There is also now a native 64-bit installer available.....yippee!!!

Agree with all the things you mentioned. Updated yesterday without problems. Note: I always navigate to the "Other Builds" and choose the "Slim Build" - no toolbar in the installer.

I've been using CCleaner for ages and never miss a chance to get it on people's machines.
Like Ron, "Slim Version" was my preference for a long time but after my latest OS clean install seven months ago, I moved to the portable one.
With a little effort to customize the winapp2.ini file, CCleaner is the best.

That's what serious developers do and Piriform is definetely one of them.
