Hi All - Thought you may be interested in this from NetApplications who release browser statistics based on the 160 million people who visit a network of 40,000 sites using its web analytic service. It's slightly biased towards usage in North America and Europe but considering the populations of those areas should provide a relatively accurate guide:

As you can see, Internet Explorer and Firefox account for around 90% of the total market, I was a tad surprised to see Opera's low share.

cheers all...JIM

OK, Jim. Here is what users of DCT are using. Please note that users of DCT are more technically savvy than the average user. As such the rate of Firefox usage is much greater than the general public!

Hey Dave - Excellent....thanks mate. Your figures pretty much match the statistics reported by Cnet, interestingly they make a similar comment about the FF share being higher because of their savvy visitors. Overall though they all reflect the huge market share enjoyed by I.E. and FF, around the 90% mark combined. Not much hope for Opera and the others which have been around for some time, maybe a glimmer of hope for the newcomer, Chrome.

cheers mate....JIM

I have a feeling though, that a view of some porn site's browser numbers would point to a high use in Chrome, thanks to the inconspicuous mode.

Sorry Chad, can you repeat that? I was closing Chrome and opening Firefox so I could get back to work and didn't hear you.
