Hey guys, I'm confused here. I Full formatted and old PC then installed XP sp3 I use the PC to download and save drivers, well anyway, I went and installed Avast Free and as usual I had to click the Register button, but when I did it took me to a page asking if I want to upgrade, not the Register page. I went to Settings, and under General I clicked Registration and it says "You Are Registered". My question is, HOW, I never filled out the registration, not my name or e-mail address. How can it be ? I was told to uninstall it then reinstall again. What's your thoughts on this ?

Don't you like good surprises Claw? I have no clue, other than they took pity on you, when they saw you were still using XP (sites do have the ability to read certain information, like o/s, browser, etc...
It could also be an advertising gimmick to get money for the upgrade? Be happy, Mindblower!

Hey Mindblower, you maybe right. I really just use it to download and save drivers on it such as wireless network type of stuff. I was just trying to make sure there wasn't anything a little"underhanded" going on. Stay cool buddy.

Like you, I still use XP but I don't even bother with a virus program. My advice is stay off the internet especially with IE8 or try to run Linux in a VM for your web browsing. It can be done, I use mine XP machine everyday. Daniel.
