You [I] see all kinds of software for making audio CD's. What I at last have never come across is a [decent] piece for making audio DVD's.
What if one wants to take all their Billie Holiday, or whomever, and instead of having several CD's have just one long-play DVD?
I understand can burn, say, MP3 files to a DVD and individually play them, but isn't there any audio DVD creation software to make a VD that one could then just stick in the DVD player and sit back and listen?

Not sure if you experienced a problem or just want to know what's possible, but if you burn a DVD with mp3 files, your DVD (Blu-ray) player will play from start to finish, one after another. In fact within the set-up, you might even be given the option of random playing. Hope this answers your question.
BTW, newer players allow you to use a memory stick. So forget about the 4.7 Gig limit. You can easily get 8, 16, 32 even 64 Gig sticks (now that's a lot of songs, and you don't need to waste a DVD). By setting up folders, you can have a very interesting audio collection on one or more memory sticks, Mindblower!

I know from browsing various hi-fi forums that audio DVDs are also used for larger-sized, higher-quality audio tracks. Songs on a standard CD are already very large, lossless files that take up over a 1MB each. Super-audio CD's, also known as SACDs or audio DVDs, are used in dvd players to play songs at higher quality than normal CDs.
I'm not exactly sure how many of the high quality tracks can fit on a dvd, but that isn't really what you're thinking about doing anyway. I just thought I'd put in my two-cents on audio DVDs.

If your DVD player will play audio only files it should have some sort of basic player functionality that would allow it to play all the files on the DVD, so you would simply create a basic DVD filled with the audio files you wish to hear. No audio CD/DVD, just a standard data disk.
