Hello everyone. Just joined DCT - great forums.
Related to the cleanup utilities issue is the one of locating utilities that are truly effective in finding and removing adware. Daily deals and Pursuit are turning into real nuisances. The redirection issue is a bad one when you keep trying to access a site. Adwcleaner hasn't really worked for me so would be interesting in this group of experienced cleaner utility experts exploring this related topic -(even if it is aopropriate to do so in a separate forum). Just a thought from a newbie here (but have been a Dell PC guy for 30 years). - Looking forward to learning a lot here! (Ooops - I was just typing and redirected to an ad site again). Ugh!
Hi Ron, and welcome!
Adwcleaner is probably the pick of the dedicated adware removal tools. Have you tried scanning your system with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and/or SUPERAntiSpyware?
Browser hijacks and redirects are difficult to overcome and often require a different methodology. What browser are you using?
Cheers... Jim
Hi Jim, There are quite some interesting observations in previous posts; but we use, as you say, what we as individuals are. Like you, I am a neat, clean and tidy freak. - only regarding my PC!
Just want to mention that PrivZer has made grand improvements in their cleaner and that the latest version makes it better than ever. A really good feature, is the tick box to shut down the PC after cleaning, which I use if I clean just before snooze time. You start it, go to bed, and PrivaZer does the rest; and wake up to a clean, fast machine!
I still use CCleaner as a few experiments showed that it still found quite a bit of dirt after running PrivaZer. So I clean in this order: first WinUtilities (I've now got Pro), then CCleaner, and lastly PrivaZer. Richards humourous article on Disk Cleaner, and your comments on the Side by Side folder in Win 7, have added another cleaner to my collection!
