I was curious. ON the old HDDs even if you wrote over with all '0's a good hacker could retrieve your data to some extent. but that was magnetic. When doing the same writing all '0's on an NVMe stick, would that not clean it permanently or am I expecting too much. Being that it is not a magnetic media, I would not think there would be much of a chance for a shadow left behind.
Honestly, I'm not 100% sure. However, I don't believe being magnetic or not is a consideration. It's all about the level of obliteration. A single pass will obliterate data to the naked eye but the data would still be retrievable using even a fairly low level data recovery software. The more passes the greater the level of obliteration and the less chance the data can be retrieved.
