Hi
I can't get a straight answer from google. All results want to sell me something. I have a DSL modem and an ethernet cable. I disconnected my wireless connection and plugged in my ethernet cable. Is the ethernet connection more secure than the wireless connection WITHOUT the ethernet cable. THANKS
Hey etruscan - Generally speaking, a wireless connection is less secure than when connected via ethernet cable. The degree all depends on whether or not access to the wireless connection is secured by an encrypted key and the strength of the ecryption. If the wireless connection is not protected then it would be way less secure than when connected via ethernet cable. If, on the other hand, the wireless connection is protected by a strong access key then it would be only be very slightly less secure than a hardwired connection.
Even though a wireless connection protected via an encrypted key is quite secure there is always an element of risk involved. That's why the 'experts' recommend changing the access key at regular intervals.
HTH......Jim
