For the last few weeks I've regularly had an error message appearing on my desktop. It says " Username and password do not match. You provided (my gmail address). Please enter your full email address (including @domain.com)". This has been appearing since I read about a weakness on gmail that allows multiple password attempts and beefed up my password. Does it mean someone is trying to hack my gmail account?
Hey Macker - I doubt that is a symptom of any attempts to hack your GMail account. Sounds to me as if you have GMail set to sign you in when Windows starts and the sign in info is not matching. Can you access your GMail account OK?
Just a thought: Are you using any 3rd party GMail apps...such as GMail Notifier? Did you change the password in them too?
I think Dave uses GMail (I don't) so I'll see if I can rouse him up for a response......stand by mate!!

If you have any Google products involved, its probably one of them. Possible culprits are:
Google Desktop
Google Widget (in Vista)
Gmail Notifier
Google Talk
Google Sync
or probably something else I missed. When you changed your password, this program didn't get the memo, hence the pop up.

Gmail, by itself, doesn't have the ability to display anything on your desktop. Since Google has started using Gmail logins for other Google programs it is possible they could display the error on your desktop, also possible that programs by other authors that are written to interact with Gmail or other Google apps could do the same.
Ziggie and Ozbloke are right on target (as usual). I'm betting you changed your Gmail password and missed the change in a locally installed program, which could display that error. If an installed program doesn't ring a bell with you, we could tell you what it is if you reply with a list of all installed programs.
