Sunbelt, the well known developers of reputable security software, are offering a free alternative DNS service which automatically filters out known bad websites. The service is known as [url=http://www.clearclouddns.com/what-is-clearcloud/:2ldkjb86]ClearCloud[/url:2ldkjb86]:

I've tried it and it give the user a good protection against many malicious websites out there. Easy to set up as it need only the DNS server to ClearCloud in the network settings.
Another alternative solution in reach fast simple security in a similar way would be to use the HOSTS file in the computer system. There's one tool I've been using myself for some time for this purpose "HostsMan" from Abelhadigital.com
It uses blocklists from mainly two familiar sites like MVPS and hpHosts which I assume also ClearCloud may use in some sort but not sure what so ever.
However it's a good choice to use:)
I like and use ClearCloud DNS, too bad it's not always the fastest for me.
Lately Comodo came into the game as well. They had all sort of issues during the first couple of days, blocking even Nirsoft's site. Reason was them blocking more than just malware and phishing sites, but they seem to have made some changes and doing better.
The difference between them is that Comodo offers an option to take the risk and go to a blocked site anyway, which is a good thing when the block is a FP, but could be dangerous in many other cases.
When it matures enough, it'll be a good alternative.
I agree with Zilva about HostsMan, great little program and hpHosts has frequent updates.
Still, this kind of DNS Services are a great addition to layered security protection.

Absolutely. I'm a big fan of OpenDNS and have been trying Sunbelt's ClearCloud for a few weeks. It's been flawless and I couldn't be happier with their service. Of course, Sunbelt usually does an excellent job at everything they do.

I've never used SpywareBlaster but my understanding is it mainly concentrates on protection against ActiveX based spyware, plus spy/tracking cookies. It is also geared more toward Internet Explorer than the other browsers. Apparently, the protection offered for Firefox (and Netscape) users is limited to blocking cookies only.

I would not recommend SpywareBlaster for anyone who predominantly uses Firefox.
ClearCloud is a different matter, it is not browser specific and can only help with overall protection. The beauty of something like ClearCloud is that it doesn't require any software installation....just change a few settings and you are good to go.
As I have said mate, the only [i:sbnhpy0v]100% effective[/i:sbnhpy0v] protection against script based threats is, in my opinion, to browse in a virtual environment....such as that provided by Sandboxie.
