Windows 7 does not see any usb drives

Just built a new computer, installed W7 Pro 64bit. All is as expected other than no usb drives show on "Computer".
Also there's an "A" Drive (floppy)...Floppy??????? what's that????
Any thoughts?

What sort of USB drives mate...flash drives or external HDD?

Is anything showing in 'Disk Management'? If shown in 'Disk Management', try assigning a drive letter and see if that works.

As for the "Floppy" being shown.....perhaps you have something plugged into the wrong slot? Do you also have a CD/DVD drive connected....is that showing in 'Computer'?

I would specifically look at the USB headers on the motherboard (unless there are permanent connections on the motherboard, which would be on the plate in the rear). Check the manual. If the connections are backward, or off a pin, they won't work.

If the USB connections on the back are permanent be sure to try them.

My customer did not tell me that he had installed a 4 port USB card. All of "my" USB ports are working. I asked the question before I had the computer in hand. Sorry to bother.
The dang "A" drive still shows.
I'll have to get the screwdriver and explore.

Few days ago i face the same problem with my vista 32 bit system I just reinstall the chip info "main mother board driver" setup and it couldn't fix the it so I delete the driver of all usb from the device manager and as i connect the usb it auto detect the driver and it work fine may be it help you solve your problem
