Every year I try to educate users on the importance of having some form of UPS (battery backup) for their computers.  Even for those who may laugh as they use laptops and believe they are protected in the event of a power failure.  Well, laptops might save you from a short power outage, but that internal battery needs to get charged too.

When it comes to buying a UPS, do not be cheap.  The higher to wattage (1500), the more time you have.  There is also a tiny unit (available from Amazon) to power your router, modem and other low power devices for 12v and 9v units, and can supply over 5 hours of power.

Power outages happen for various reasons.  They can occur in any season.  Fallen trees is the number one reason IMHO.  Equipment failure and excessive demands on the power grid are others.

We are becoming more, much more dependent on our electronic marvels.  Cell users should be aware of those small battery packs (the size of a cell) which can charge your cells several times before needing to get charged.

Oh yes, those with private vehicles can use the charging ability to charge devices while they drive.

So stop procrastinating and become prepared, Mindblower!
