Hi guys!

I keep getting this error message whether on IE or Firefox. Is this a different script error each time or is it the same problem? What causes it? How can I fix it? It keeps happening whether I click YES or NO!

Thanks!

Hey Selahgal - It's not unusual to get script errors in I.E., a little more rare in Firefox and quite unusual to get them in both.

When dealing with browsers it always helps for us to know which version you are using, in future could you please post that information....t'would be much appreciated.

Here are the common fixes:
In Internet Explorer: Firstly, remove/delete all temporary internet files. Now go to; [b:31gtnxdt]ToolsInternet options[/b:31gtnxdt] and click on the [b:31gtnxdt]Advanced [/b:31gtnxdt]tab. Under 'Browsing' place a checkmark in the box next to..'Disable Script debugging (other)'. Make sure there is [b:31gtnxdt]not[/b:31gtnxdt] a checkmark in the box next to...'Display a notification about every script error'. If there is a checkmark in that box, remove it.

In Firefox: Most likely cause here is an incompatible add-on. Try disabling each add-on, one at a time, until the errors stop and that will tell you which one is causing the problem. Then either leave it disabled or uninstall it.
If that is not the problem please do this; Open Firefox and in the 'Address Bar' (not the search bar) type in [b:31gtnxdt]about:config[/b:31gtnxdt] and then hit 'Enter'. You will get a message about voiding warranty, just ignore that and click on the 'I'll be careful' button to continue. Scroll down until you locate this entry: [b:31gtnxdt]dom.max_chrome_script_run_time[/b:31gtnxdt]. To the right of that, under [b:31gtnxdt]Value[/b:31gtnxdt], will be a number. Please let us know what that is.

It still worries me that you are getting script error messages in both browsers, that points to the possibility of a common issue outside of each browser's own settings....maybe just coincidence. Dave and Ziggie will have some better ideas on that.

In the meantime, please try the above and post back with the results....hopefully that will fix it.

cheers now....JIM

Can you also tell us what you are trying to view? A local file, or a specific website.

There can be quite a few reasons for errors like this, but the error msg does a good job of pointing to the culprit. It is also possible (dare I say recommended) to disable these error messages.

Let us know what you are trying to view and we'll go from there!

Sorry for not being more specific. Using WinXP. IE8, Firefox 3.5.2.

I did as you suggested, Jim. I will wait a bit now to see if it pops up again. There doesn't seem to be a 'trigger' that I'm aware of otherwise I'd try to trigger it. It has actually been happening for YEARS.

I'll let you know!

Thanks again.

That's alright mate, no need for apologies It's just that some issues can be version specific and option settings (to apply fixes) can differ between versions too.

Hope it works out okay but if not just post back here and we shall explore some other avenues.

cheers now....JIM

and...if it does occur again, another screenshot would be helpful, and if you could tell us where you were (be as specific as you like).

The shot you posted looks like it's on your local desktop, which is worrisome. Do you have Weatherbug installed?
