Gigabyte 1155 Motherboards

Hi Folks,

Am I just unlucky? or what. I've built three Sandybridge desktops based on Gigabyte mobo's over the last 8 months and had the misfortune to have purchased two defective boards. These weren't the overclocked to infinity desktops ----just basic plug in and play machines with the emphasis on good graphics. Both defective boards turned the computer [and monitor] on and off like a neon sign in the old black and white movies, and hence were completely unbootable. Has anyone else had a similar run of bad luck. Both boards were returned under warranty and replaced with no quibbles at all. That said, its still damned annoying.

Nope, nothing like that. You have, IMO, been rather unlucky Gerry. Gigabyte have a good rep, their mobos are generally pretty reliable (in my experience anyway).

I've actually had a pretty decent run with PC hardware. My main bogie has always been fridges, the last one I bought was brand spanky new and lasted a whole 3 weeks!

Had to fight tooth and nail to get a replacement under warranty too.

Cheers...Jim

Hi Ozbloke---Jim

My preference is Gigabyte boards [despite my recent trials and tribulations], I like the chunky industrial feel of them. Before venturing into the Sandybridge area I was firmly committed to the AMD phenom processor, but couldn't resist the challenge of the new technology. That said, I will stick with the Gigabyte/Sandybridge combo because it is so much quicker, OR until something better comes along!

P.S. What's IMO ? -- not rude I hope
