If it's true, this would have to be one of the most amazing ripoffs of all time. Apparently [this is unconfirmed] a Russian gentleman ordered an el cheapo Chinese knock-off external hard drive. He couldn't work out why he kept losing all his data. When he opened it up he was amazed to find inside; a 128MB flash memory card plus two very large nuts (to add the extra weight).
Apparently the memory card was programmed to automatically delete all data once it reached maximum capacity, and start over:

Yes Dave, the whole thing is really nuts. Not the sort of device one would want to squirrel away. Although it probably didn't cost peanuts and getting rid of it might be a be a bit of a wrench. I expect the perpetrators would have done a bolt by now anyway......to somewhere remote like Macadamia probably.
