when I send a hotmail message and cc gmail hotmail asks for an update on credentials. I have tried many logical approaches to an "updated" hotmail account but nothing works.

Hey Murray,
I suspect this might have something to do with creating and setting up "app passwords".
Please clarify:
Is the message from your Hotmail account being sent via outlook.com (online) or via a local email client, such as Thunderbird?
Is this happening with every Gmail address you Cc or only a specific Gmail address?
