I bought my first Mac a few months ago - a MacBook Air 13".  I recently received an email promoting a program from Nova Development called CleanMyMac, which purports to clean up useless files, program detritus, etc. to make your Mac run better.  I have been using Windows systems for many years and I concluded long ago that programs like CCleaner that say they will do the equivalent cleanup functions on Windows systems are not worth buying.  Does anyone know if CleanMyMac is worth its $25 price?

We have an iMac, 2 MacBook Airs and 3 MacBook Pros in our house.  We have had them for four years and have never had a need for anything like this.  It may be a good product.  We've just never saw any reason to purchase anything like this.

The idea behind Windows cleaners is that they usually clean up the system and also fix broken registry entries, optimize some stuff but often do it in some strange ways and lead to unpredictable results.

Meanwhile, CleanMyMac just cleans outdated system files and useless data stored on your Mac. If you need to free up additional gigabytes of space on your Mac - CleanMyMac does its job very well.

I see little point in paying for software like this when there's so much excellent freeware available.

Can't speak for the current version, however, in past versions that app has been overly aggressive in that it "cleans" too much. Besides, it's really not needed as macOS is not like Windows.
