Do you know whatever happened to that Rescue Special Ops show? Is is dead or just on break? Been following it from the get go, Mindblower!

PS Great shots of down under.

Hey MB - Never watched the show myself but my brother, who is staying with us at the moment, says it is a great program. What series number are you up to?

Series 2 is the latest available and aired during 2010. A third series consisting of 22 episodes is currently in production and will go to air in 2011.

Glad to see at least someone is awake[i:1rd0o8gx] North[/i:1rd0o8gx] of the border. I think the Southerners must be taking a siesta!!

Cheers mate.....Jim

Excellent news. Enjoyed all the shows (season 1 & 2). There is no indication on IMDB if more episodes are planned. Will look forward to (you did say 22) whatever more is given. Are there any shows you'd recommend? Only ask, since not knowing what's available, makes it difficult to see if I can get 'em (torrent wise). Thank you brother for me, Mindblower!

Well ozbloke, I've watched several episodes from season one, and I concur, it's one of the best cop drama shows out there. Once again, thanks, Mindblower!

You are most welcome MB...glad you are enjoying it. We are all different and some people enjoy certain shows more than other but the cream will generally always rise to the top.

BTW: Are there any local TV series your end that you can recommend?

Here is a list of some U.S. shows I watch and have tried:
Lie To Me - I love this show and especially the eccentric performance from Tim Roth. One of my favourites.
White Collar - Good show with good cast who interact well together. Individual weekly stories are entertaining and an underlying perpetual theme adds some intrigue.
Dexter - Would not miss an episode!
Sons of Anarchy - Ditto.
Boardwalk Empire - Very disappointing. Set during prohibition era and starring Steve Buscemi, I thought it would be something out of the box. Is actually mundane and quite slow.
Blue Bloods - Fine cast (including Tom Selleck - whom I really like). Typical cop show set in New York. Would like to see a little more 'human interest' introduced into the mix. Well worth a view.
Hawaii Five-0 - Predictable. Not a bad show but nothing out of the box.
Haven - Too silly!!

Have just downloaded the first two episodes of 'The Event', haven't watched them yet so can't comment but the plot sounds interesting.

Cheers mate.....Jim

Best show ever?

Top Gear!
Whether you like cars or not you owe it to yourself to watch at least 2 episodes. The show is shot with the care and expertise of a major budget Hollywood movie - just beautiful. Add in the interactions between the 3 hosts, the running gags, the "star in a reasonably priced car" segments, and the regular escapades and this show is a don't miss.

Now, if they would just make more episodes so I don't have to wait so long between "series"!

I'll crawl back under my rock and get back to what I need to be doing...

I get all my shows via torrents ozbloke, so local does not work here. Besides, I could get almost all the American shows via Cable/Satellite (if I was so inclined). Honestly, why pay extra to watch commercials, when one already pays Internet rates?

[b:2p12oea4]Burn Notice [/b:2p12oea4]pops to mind right away. If you enjoy learning and action, this is a given.

[b:2p12oea4]Shit my Dad Says [/b:2p12oea4]if the latest great comedy IMHO.

[b:2p12oea4]Lost Girl [/b:2p12oea4]should remain lost forever. They tried something old and failed.

The new [b:2p12oea4]Nikita[/b:2p12oea4] is so-so, and should not be confused with the predecessors. Would of been better to come out with a different name, possibly similar slant, and allow the public to decide.

It all depends on ones taste, and the above is just a taste, Mindblower!

Hey Mindblower - I really like the sound of [b:3uvskbcu]Burn Notice[/b:3uvskbcu]. I came across it a couple of months ago, I was a tad put off because it is now well into season four but based on your recommendation I'll start downloading and give it a go.....thanks mate.

[b:3uvskbcu]S**** My Dad Says[/b:3uvskbcu] - Hadn't heard of it.. Doesn't rate too well on IMDB, but it has William Shatner and that's got to be a big plus. Will give it a go and see.....again thanks.

I also read about the new[b:3uvskbcu] Nikita[/b:3uvskbcu], mixed reviews and didn't sound like my cup of tea so left than one alone. It sounds a bit similar to [b:3uvskbcu]Covert Affairs[/b:3uvskbcu] which is about a female CIA agent (played by Piper Perabo). We have watched about 5 episodes, is (as you say) so-so. It's not too bad, something we fall back on if there is nothing else around to watch.

Have just started watching the [b:3uvskbcu]The Event[/b:3uvskbcu]. My wife and I just love it. Is up to series one/episode 7 and I am downloading like mad. Just [i:3uvskbcu]got to[/i:3uvskbcu] see what happens next. It's a strange mix of mystery, covert government operations and sci-fi. Don't let the sci-fi component put you off, it is not over the top. It's one of those shows which is just so full on, the 45 minutes or so seems to just fly by.......very intriguing and highly entertaining.

Thanks again MB,
Cheers.....Jim

Recap time ozbloke.
Lie To Me, White Collar, Sons of Anarchy, Boardwalk Empire, and Haven are shows I've not watched. Was planning on watching Boardwalk Empire, but might give it a pass now.

So you're a Dexter fan. Am somewhat disappointed with this season. Hope it picks up. I'll say the same about Spooks (MI5).

Blue Bloods shows the family side, which is nice.
Hawaii Five-0, it's the scenery I like. Predictable like you said.

Not sure if The Event is another Lost. Not willing to be like a dog/cat and chase my tail. Flash backs are nice, but can become boring when overdone.

Pity the networks cancelled Caprica. Would like to see the plot expand, Mindblower!

Yep MB, love Dexter. But I do agree the current series has started off rather mundanely....is definitely starting to pick up now though. I like the introduction of the new female lead who Dexter is becoming involved with....like the actress and the role.

Sons of Anarchy - Is, I suspect, very much a niche type show. It tells the story of a gang of bikers who virtually run a small town that goes by the charming name of "Charming". There are corrupt cops, rival gangs, gun running, lots of crime (of course) but, somewhat surprisingly, not very much bad language. We get to know the gang members, their families and affiliations. They are a bad lot, no doubt but they do have some redeeming features (they certainly look after their own)...and one cannot help feeling a certain empathy. Definitely one which would fall into the 'either hate it or love it' category.

The Event - Only the very first episode over-indulges somewhat in the use of flashbacks. Must admit it does require a little extra concentration to keep up. After that though flashbacks are scant and, on the odd occasion they are used, are germane and very easy to follow.

I can understand how some people might give up on the first episode, trying to keep up with it all. But if one perseveres it all comes together by the end of the episode and everything is totally apparent/obvious. In subsequent episodes once the stage is set, as I said, flashbacks are rare.

Don't let me put you off Boardwalk Empire. The reconstruction of the prohibition era (scenery, fashions and ambiance) is excellent. I quite enjoyed the first few episodes but then it seemed nothing much was happening and it all got a tad boring...but that may well be just me!!

I was planning to give Caprica a view. Does the show just end abruptly and make it feel like you have wasted your time, or does it come to a proper (satisfactory) conclusion?

Cheers mate.....Jim

The plug was pulled on Caprica, but we should see the few remaining shows. I"d recommend it if you loved the new Battlestar Galactia series. Yes you do get to see the birth, of the machine age (don't want to give it away). Hope it ends on a good note.

Thanks for filling in the other series. My plate is quite full, so many later I'll consider what you listed, Mindblower!
