I almost joined. A lot of friends I met in past careers were former Marines. Some of the finest people I've met and had the pleasure of working with! I'll have to tell them belated happy birthday!
You gotta love people that get to shot things that go boom!

Hi - In Oz, the 11th November is known as remembrance day....each year at 11am on the 11th day of the 11th month, the nation stops and remembers the fallen from WW1. Memorial services are held nationwide.

Hey - Jim -
We also celebrate Veteran's Day in the same fashion but without regard to which war or conflict in which they served. Do ya think that, someday, the world at large will outlaw the abominable practice called "war"? The stuff of which dreams are made.
Happy Birthday, Marines! May God bless you all!
Richard
