I have a Samsung Galaxy S4. I used to use a software called Kies3 to transfer photos to my computer. When I use it I get a pop up that it has been replaced with something new that transfers to other android devices.
I use an Otterbox case which is great but a pain to take on/off to get the sim card out. Is there an easier way to trasnfer photos to the computer? Both devices are bluetooth.
You pictures shouldn't be stored on your SIM card, Sherri. They're either on internal flash storage or some form of SD card.
Install Dropbox on your phone and computer. Images should transfer immediately after you've taken them over the air without cables.
There will be a 2GB limit on storage, but all you need to do is copy the images from the Dropbox folder (on computer) to your normal picture storage location then delete them from the Dropbox folder.
I also use Samsung and I prefer to use 3rd party Android tools to help me manage my phones on Windows. Here are some recommended tools: Assistant for Android, Android Manager for PC. You can sync phone with Samsung Smart Switch, ensure that photos you take are always saved direct to external SD card. You can also use some tools to help you transfer, here is a detail guide for you:

Use the supplied USB cable to connect the device to your computer. If necessary, touch and hold the status bar. Transmission from Samsung to PC is easier because Android is relatively open source. But Samsung Galaxy S4 to Mac transferring photos files requires some tips and help.
With the correct Samsung USB drivers you connect your phone wit the USB cable and then is shows up in My PC as a mass storage device.
By all means use Kies for a phone back up but for simple data transfers, just use your PC as you would a pendrive or similar.
Actually, the easy way to transfer photos from Samsung galaxy s4 to pc is using android assistant tool. You just need to connect your Samsung galaxy s4 to pc via usb cable, start the tool. A short time scanning later, you can access all photos and transfer them to pc.
