Fixing A Frozen Android Touch Screen

My Sister’s Android screen froze up. She tried to restart the phone by holding the power button. The shutdown screen options appeared, but tapping any of the icons had no effect. It seemed like everything was working, but the touch screen.

So if your touch screen seems to stop working and you can’t even restart your phone, try this. Hold the “volume down” button and the “power button” at the same time.

A little “power options” window appeared at the bottom of the screen with a microphone symbol (sorry, no screenshot available). I told it to “shut down” (or tell it to “restart”). It didn’t shut down, but it did restart, and now everything seems back to normal.

When I pressed volume down+power buttons, the system took a screenshot.
When I persisted with the pressure, the phone shut down, just like that, without offering any options mentioned.
Mine is Xiaomi 11T Pro with Android 14.

As long as you get it to shut down, that is the important thing. A restart may fix any other problems that you are having.
