Yesterday I had a guy bring me his computer because he had an issue with Facebook. He was getting a message that “A feature was temporarily blocked because he was using it too fast”.
He could only scroll down through a few posts on his wall and he would get a popup message claiming “It looks like you were misusing this feature by going too fast.” Was he scrolling down through his post too fast? If you are going to block an account, Facebook, at least give a more detailed message on what was actually done wrong.
Even with the block, he still had some limited use of the site, like Messenger. In this case, I could scroll down through a few posts until he got to an error message claiming that something went wrong, click on the reload/refresh page button, which only brought up the blocked feature message.
A number of people have had this happen to them according to an online search. Apparently, any activities done repeatedly in quick succession get flagged. Facebook AI thinks you are a spammer or a robot. Because a robot is trying to determine if you are human or not.
Other people online seem to have had the same issue. Sometimes the block lasts a few hours, sometimes a couple of days. There is a feedback option but it’s hard to defend yourself when you don’t know what you did. I just left the message, “I don’t know what I did.”
Luckily the block is gone this morning. I can’t tell the owner not what to do because neither one of us knows what he did wrong. Thank You, Facebook.
I was going to take screenshots this morning but the problem seems to have been cleared up. If you get this blocked account message, click on any button or option that allows appealing the decision, but otherwise there is nothing else you can do but wait until Facebook unblocks you.
I know Daves Computer Tips is still dealing with its Facebook issues. So have you been blocked, banned, or locked out from Facebook? Let us know your experiences in the comments.

FB AI discriminates against those who know the Devil is in the details. The face behind FB is the Devil himself. Mildly targeted individuals are banned from freedom of speech. Dead chickens in your driveway are the Devil’s calling card.
How do you know the devil? Have you had any encounters with the extraterrestrials? Do you have any mental illnesses if you don’t mind me asking?
Get to the point…if you don’t mind my asking.
sorry, i did but it’s not showing in comments for some reason, sorry about that
If AI is doing support at FB, I might like it. AI could be better than non-existent human support. My FB account got hacked about 6 months ago, tried the protocol meta published, and nothing worked. I tried that same protocol this week, and it worked, I have recovered my account. Is it because of AI or something else?
I got this message last night, while I was sleeping. I sent them a Polite message and Asked them how they knew I was late for work yesterday and just drove a little fast. I also asked them What their AI Bots intentions were with My AI Bot. About 20 min. later I was Unblocked. I sent them another message and asked them if they could reinstate the block for 24 Hours because I didn’t have time to be on FB today. Got a message back stating they Didn’t understand. I replied welcome to the Club.
surprised you even got a reply./ their help desk is completely wortheless and helpless.
I was blocked for going “too fast” after spending 30 minutes of research and typing between “Schedule” and “Submit”! Should I have waited 35 minutes? 36? How long? The issue here is that MY NOTIFICATION didn’t come with an option to dispute. I screenshotted the report ( that contains NO option to dispute ) and reported three times from my business page and twice from my personal. It keeps happening and it’s the most annoying thing ever.
I got the ‘You are going too fast’ crap too. It’s ridiculous, i was looking at some film titles to add to my likes, and a few days later was scrolling through at a real slow pace this time, and guess what? it happened yet again. How on earth am i going too fast when i was going slow? I cleared cache, updated fb etc and it is still happening.
Today I was scrolling through my Saved Marketplace adverts, Un-saving those which are sold or no longer interest me. I got the “going too fast” block.
Someone took over my facebook account, changed my email address and phone number – Facebook either doesn’t recognise my log in details, or when I try to change password to force an action it tells me I’ve been temporarily blocked for going too fast – it appears I have tried too many times to unclear my account.
What do i have to do to get someone other than a robot to look at this?
Bottom line: we are Facebook’s product. They couldn’t survive without us. But when things go wrong on our side, all we can do is jump through the limited automated hoops they provide and hope for the best. I wish I had more information to offer you.
Just came across this. … Today is 11.17.2023 and I’m getting this message. … (Happened years ago.) .. .I tried to protest/complain, but there’s little you can do but “file a report,” which i tend to believe Facebook ignores. … I even saw a notice that this will only last one more hour, but that hasn’t been the case. … Ugh!
I got hacked and they keep sending me to the same page, Verify Your Account, but I keep getting this silly you’re going to fast message. It has been 6 weeks for me! I use Facebook for business and I haven’t been able to access it for going on 2 months. I got hacked and the hacker deleted my email address, which is how I logged in. So when I log in with the temp password that FB sent to me, it doesn’t recognize my email address. I’m caught in a loop!!!
Have you tried getting a friend/relative/business partner to help you recover your account?
https://davescomputertips.com/how-to-report-fake-facebook-friend-request/
When you get to the step of “Please select a problem” click on “Something else”. Then Click “Recover this account” and follow the steps.
The blocking is really annoying as it won’t let you scroll to the last notification and if you press unread it pops also.
Hi, I got the dreaded “blocked” message on my computer (but not on my iPhone or iPad) yesterday evening and have spent hours trying to figure out what happened, as many above have already described. NO helpful suggestions are available from FB or their help pages.
To make a long story short: As FB worked on my phone, and I could change the password on FB, I figured out that it must be something on the computer that caused the issue, and since my FB account was not blocked (as it worked on the iPhone) the “blocked” message is in reality a poorly configured (in lack of better phrase) ERROR MESSAGE from FB.
Disabling AdBlock, Bitdefender AntiTracker, and AdBlock One (Trend Micro) made FB work again on my computer. I hope FB someday will make better error messages. I guess using the Private Relay feature on MacOS will also produce errors, but that is disabled on this computer.
I haven’t used my Facebook account in over 10 years because I always get this error, going too fast. Your account has been blocked!
Hi, I had this error some weeks ago and then figured out, that one (or several) add blockers caused this. Add blockers destroy the FB business model, but there should have been a better “error” message, so the user could identify what causes this. Anyhow, I managed to get rid of this error message.
Never use Facebook but wanted to go online to wish a friend happy birthday. Got blocked for going too fast while trying to reset my password.
Arriving here nearly two years after the initial post because this just happened to me for the first time today. But with a twist — I wasn’t even logged in to FB!
I don’t have the FB app on my phone or other devices. I have always accessed FB only from my desktop computer. Usually it “remembers” me, so I don’t have to enter a password. Typing the URL for FB brings me straight to my profile.
Until today. Today it brought up a log-in page. Since it had been years, I clicked on “forgot password.” Entered the associated email address and immediately got the dreaded “it looks like you are misusing this feature by going to fast. You are temporarily blocked.” After ONE attempt! I can’t bring this to FB’s attention, since I can’t even log in. I have a personal profile as well as a business page that is the centerpiece of my online marketing efforts. The arbitrariness of the block, the AI-driven implacability of it all, is beyond aggravating. Am I stuck with just waiting and hoping it goes differently tomorrow?
Facebook Instagram, and another went “down” today. It has caused grief for many including me.
Waiting is all one can do at the moment,
Richard
Hi John, just a thought. Have you checked your browser settings? The massage can happen if you have anything “blocking” in your browser. Eg like blocking advertisements or cookies.
My situation resolved itself a day or two later,, without me changing any settings, including ad blocking. One of life’s great — albeit inconvenient — mysteries, I guess.
I am getting this message when I try to post something I wrote. I can share posts all I want to.
“Your post is being processed. We’ll let you know when it’s ready to view.” Have no idea why or what I did. All I post of my own is a daily Bible verse. The last time I was able to post a verse was March 5th.
I would really like to know just what is, going to fast, on your computer means? It seems to be a pick and chose, who FB wants on their website. No longer have access to anything on FB. Have lost all contact with my friends and groups that I was with, on there. Really aggravating to say the least!
I too, have been blocked by FB for going too fast. Whatever that means. I belong to a large car group on FB and am no longer able to make contact with them. Plus a lot of my old school friends are on there and most of us connect through card games. Blocked from that too! It is to bad that whoever ver is in charge of FB, chooses to block, whoever they see fit and for no reason that makes any sense to me! Miss my FB friends!
You must realize no person at Facebook is blocking you but rather a simple algorithm. Try turning off any ad blockers you have running. That has helped some people.
