Easy Method To Resize Table Columns

I have had more than one complaint about how it is becoming more and more difficult to resize very large documents by dragging the column divider. It seems as if this has only been occurring with very long documents with lots and lots of tables. Hmm. This did give me pause, but surely there had to be a way to rectify the situation. And after snooping around and looking for answers, I finally found one.

First, though, I figured out that this was mainly a problem with documents that were in Print Layout View, which I normally use all the time.

Follow the steps below to learn how:

  1. You can try using the AutoFit table settings and adjusting the percentage width in the table properties, but these do not always work as you might think and they are not easy to work with in my humble opinion.
  2. The best trick I have found to quickly and easily resize your columns using the click and drag method is to switch to Draft view.
  3. For those who do not know how to do this, you simply click on View | Draft.
  4. You can always switch back to Print Layout once you are finished!

Not so difficult after all now is it?
